Finance News / FTSE 100 climbs in early deals (AFP)LONDON (AFP) – London shares rose at the start of trading on Friday as investors awaited key jobs data out of the United States.
The FTSE 100 index jumped 0.50 percent to 5,392.37 points in early deals. The price of shares in Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) rose by 2.42 percent to 53.2 pence in early trade after the bank announced a return to profit. RBS said it made a net profit of ??9 million (11 million euros, 14 million dollars) in the six months to the end of June compared to a loss after tax of ??1.042 billion in the first half of 2009. |
